Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tenofovir alafenamide + lamivudine is a combination of two nucleos(t)ide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) used for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. Tenofovir alafenamide is a prodrug of tenofovir with enhanced plasma stability and more efficient delivery to target cells compared to tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. Lamivudine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor. Both drugs work by inhibiting HIV viral replication through competitive inhibition of viral reverse transcriptase and incorporation into viral DNA, causing chain termination.
