terconazole + fluconazole

Terconazole + fluconazole is a combination of two antifungal agents, each with distinct but complementary mechanisms of action. Terconazole is an imidazole derivative used topically (usually as a vaginal cream or suppository) to treat fungal and yeast infections, particularly vulvovaginal candidiasis. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby stopping the growth of fungi[8][9]. Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal administered orally or intravenously for systemic and mucosal fungal infections including vaginal candidiasis. It also inhibits ergosterol synthesis in fungi by targeting the cytochrome P450 enzyme 14α-demethylase[6][7]. The combination may be considered in cases where both local and systemic treatment are desired for severe or recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis; however, there are no widely marketed products combining these two agents into a single formulation. Both drugs are well-established treatments individually for Candida infections.
