Teriparatide + calcium + vitamin D is a combination therapy used primarily for the treatment of osteoporosis, especially in postmenopausal women and individuals at high risk for bone fractures. Teriparatide is a recombinant form of human parathyroid hormone (PTH 1-34), functioning as an anabolic (bone-building) agent that stimulates new bone formation by activating osteoblasts. Calcium and vitamin D are essential cofactors, both for maximizing the bone-forming effects of teriparatide and maintaining mineral homeostasis. Vitamin D increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate, while calcium provides the substrate for bone mineralization.
