Drug intelligence / Profile preview
teriparatide + romosozumab is a combination therapy consisting of two bone-forming (anabolic) agents used for the treatment of severe osteoporosis. Teriparatide is a recombinant human parathyroid hormone (PTH 1-34) analog that stimulates bone formation by activating the parathyroid hormone 1 receptor (PTH1R). Romosozumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits sclerostin, a negative regulator of bone formation, thereby promoting bone building while simultaneously reducing bone resorption. The co-administration of these two agents is being investigated to evaluate whether combining their distinct anabolic pathways can produce synergistic increases in bone mineral density (BMD) and more effectively reduce fracture risk in postmenopausal women with severe osteoporosis.
