Overview

Tergynan is a fixed-dose combination vaginal tablet designed for the local treatment of various forms of vaginitis, including bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections. It contains four active ingredients: ternidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative with potent antiprotozoal and antibacterial activity against anaerobic organisms like *Trichomonas vaginalis*; neomycin sulfate, a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis; nystatin, a polyene antifungal effective against *Candida* species; and prednisolone, a corticosteroid that provides anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects to relieve local irritation. This multi-modal approach allows for the effective management of mixed vaginal infections and provides rapid symptomatic relief. It was originally developed by Laboratoires Bouchara-Recordati and is widely used in several regions for gynecological infections.
