Testosterone cypionate + radium-223 is an investigational combination for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Testosterone cypionate is a synthetic androgen used in hormone therapy, while radium-223 is a targeted alpha-emitting radiopharmaceutical that selectively delivers radiation to bone metastases. The rationale for combining these agents is that testosterone cypionate may enhance the cytotoxic activity of radium-223, potentially increasing tumor cell death outside the primary sites targeted by radium-223 and mitigating side effects associated with radiopharmaceutical treatment.
