Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of testosterone enanthate, an esterified form of the androgen hormone testosterone, and carboplatin, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent. Testosterone enanthate acts as an agonist at the androgen receptor to replace or supplement endogenous testosterone levels. Carboplatin is an alkylating agent that forms DNA crosslinks leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. This combination has been studied in clinical trials for metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), particularly in patients without homologous recombination deficiency (HRD). The rationale for this combination includes exploiting the potential synergy between hormonal manipulation (bipolar androgen therapy) and DNA-damaging chemotherapy[1][3].
