Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tinicline is a fixed-dose combination oral antibiotic and antiprotozoal medication containing tetracycline and tinidazole. Developed and marketed by Eskag Pharma, it is indicated for the treatment of mixed bacterial and protozoal infections, including gastrointestinal infections (such as amoebiasis, diarrhea, and gastroenteritis), gynecological infections, and dental infections. Tetracycline acts as a bacteriostatic agent by reversibly binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis. Tinidazole, a second-generation nitroimidazole, is reduced within anaerobic pathogens to generate reactive nitro radicals that damage DNA and inhibit DNA synthesis, leading to cell death.
