THC primarily acts as a partial agonist at the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors. Beta-caryophyllene is a sesquiterpene that functions as a selective CB2 receptor agonist, while myrcene is a monoterpene hypothesized to interact with CB1 receptors and TRPV1 channels. The combination is being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial for pain management using vaporized administration.
