It is used as a component of the radiopharmaceutical agent Cardiolite, which is a technetium Tc99m-based imaging agent for assessing myocardial perfusion. The compound acts as a ligand precursor in the preparation of technetium Tc99m sestamibi, which accumulates in myocardial tissue and enables imaging of blood flow to detect coronary artery disease and localize myocardial ischemia[1][2][3][5].
