Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This tetravalent recombinant norovirus vaccine is a virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine developed by Beijing Zhifei Green Bamboo Biopharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products. The vaccine is produced using a *Pichia pastoris* (yeast) expression system and is designed to prevent acute gastroenteritis caused by norovirus. It targets four distinct genotypes of the virus—GI.1, GII.4, GII.3, and GII.17—which are responsible for the majority of norovirus outbreaks globally. By presenting non-infectious VLPs that structurally resemble the actual virus, the vaccine elicits a robust immune response, primarily through the induction of neutralizing antibodies against the viral capsid proteins.
