Drug intelligence / Profile preview
THC + cannabidiol (specifically referring to Transvamix®) is a standardized medicinal cannabis oil containing 10% delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and 5% cannabidiol (CBD). It is prepared as a magistral (compounded) formulation by specialist pharmacies in the Netherlands, such as Transvaal Apotheek and Felix Farma, using standardized plant material supplied by Bedrocan. The combination is administered sublingually and acts primarily as an agonist of cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2. It is being evaluated in clinical trials, including a Phase 2a study (NCT06518434) led by the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) for its potential anti-tumor activity in patients with advanced, untreatable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), as well as in a Phase 2 trial (C4EB) for the management of chronic pain and pruritus in patients with epidermolysis bullosa.
