Overview

Thymalfasin (thymosin alpha 1) plus recombinant human interleukin-2 is a combination immunomodulatory therapy. Thymalfasin is a synthetic peptide analog of thymosin alpha 1, which enhances T-cell mediated immunity by promoting the differentiation and function of lymphocytes, increasing production of cytokines such as IL-2, and improving antigen presentation by macrophages[5][8]. Recombinant human interleukin-2 (rhIL-2) is a cytokine that stimulates proliferation and activation of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. The combination has been investigated for synergistic effects in restoring immune function in immunosuppressed states such as lymphocytopenia associated with malignant hematological tumors[1][2], advanced melanoma[6], and other cancers[3][10]. Mechanistically, thymalfasin potentiates the cytotoxic activity induced by IL-2, leading to enhanced anti-tumor responses. This regimen aims to improve immune reconstitution or augment anti-tumor immunity.
