thyroid-stimulating hormone superagonist (human) is a preclinical-stage recombinant protein being developed by Trophogen, Inc. for the management of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). Engineered as a human thyrotropin (TSH) analog, the drug acts as a superagonist at the TSH receptor (TSHR), demonstrating significantly higher binding affinity and potency compared to native recombinant human TSH (rhTSH). Its primary application is to enhance the uptake of radioiodine for both diagnostic imaging and therapeutic ablation of thyroid cancer cells. By more effectively stimulating TSHR-expressing tumor tissue, it aims to improve the sensitivity of scans and the efficacy of radioiodine treatment while potentially reducing the required dose of radiation.
