Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tianqi Pingchan + amantadine is an investigational combination therapy for the treatment of levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID) in patients with Parkinson's disease. It consists of Tianqi Pingchan Granule (TPG), a compound traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation, and amantadine, a standard-of-care NMDA receptor antagonist. TPG is designed to alleviate dyskinesia by increasing the expression of G protein-coupled receptor kinase 6 (GRK6), which modulates dopaminergic signaling and inhibits abnormal involuntary movements. Amantadine provides complementary symptomatic relief through its action as a non-competitive NMDA receptor antagonist. The combination was evaluated in a multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (NCT04173832) conducted by Xinhua Hospital, which demonstrated efficacy in reducing Unified Dyskinesia Rating Scale (UDysRS) scores and was well tolerated.
