Ticagrelor + aspirin

Ticagrelor + aspirin is a fixed-dose combination therapy used primarily for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) or established coronary artery disease. Ticagrelor is an oral, reversible antagonist of the P2Y12 receptor on platelets, inhibiting adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-mediated platelet activation and aggregation. Aspirin acts as an irreversible inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), suppressing thromboxane A2 production and further reducing platelet aggregation. The combination provides dual antiplatelet therapy, which has been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, and stroke more effectively than clopidogrel plus aspirin in ACS patients[1][3][4]. However, this benefit comes with an increased risk of bleeding[3]. Ticagrelor was developed by AstraZeneca.
