TIRV HA (Trivalent Influenza RNA Vaccine – Hemagglutinin Antigen) is an investigational nucleoside-modified messenger RNA (modRNA) vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech for the prevention of seasonal influenza. The vaccine utilizes a lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery system, the same platform employed in the Comirnaty COVID-19 vaccine, to deliver codon-optimized mRNA encoding the full-length hemagglutinin (HA) surface proteins of three influenza strains. By targeting the HA protein, the vaccine aims to induce neutralizing antibodies and cellular immune responses against both influenza A and B viruses. TIRV HA has been evaluated in Phase II human challenge studies, including trials conducted in collaboration with hVIVO, to assess its safety, immunogenicity, and efficacy compared to traditional quadrivalent inactivated vaccines.
