Overview

Titanium dioxide + bisoctrizole is a fixed-dose combination used primarily in topical sunscreen formulations for broad-spectrum ultraviolet (UV) protection. Titanium dioxide is an inorganic compound that acts as a physical UV filter by reflecting and scattering UVA and UVB rays. Bisoctrizole, also known as methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol, is an organic benzotriazole-based compound that absorbs, reflects, and scatters both UVA and UVB radiation. Bisoctrizole functions as a hybrid sun-blocking agent with both chemical (absorption) and physical (reflection/scattering) properties. The combination provides enhanced photoprotection for the skin against harmful effects of solar radiation. This combination has been developed for use in sunscreens and other dermatological products to prevent sunburn, photoaging, and related skin disorders[1][2][3][5][7].
