Overview

TNFr-Ig + hIgG1-CD4 is an experimental combination biologic therapy composed of two recombinant fusion proteins. TNFr-Ig is a fusion protein that combines the extracellular domain of the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) with the Fc portion of human IgG, acting as a decoy receptor to neutralize tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), thereby inhibiting its pro-inflammatory effects. hIgG1-CD4 is a fusion protein consisting of human IgG1 fused to CD4, which can bind HIV gp120 and potentially block HIV entry into cells or modulate immune responses. The combination aims to provide both anti-cytokine (anti-TNF) and anti-lymphocyte (CD4-mediated) immunomodulatory effects. This approach has been explored in pilot studies for autoimmune diseases and conditions involving immune dysregulation[1].
