Overview

KINDERCIN-F is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic medication developed and marketed by Optho Pharma. It contains the aminoglycoside antibiotic tobramycin and the corticosteroid fluorometholone. Tobramycin provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, which inhibits protein synthesis and leads to bacterial cell death. Fluorometholone is a synthetic glucocorticoid that reduces ocular inflammation by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, thereby inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This combination is indicated for the treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the eye where a bacterial infection or a risk of infection exists, such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, and post-operative inflammation.
