Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a **combination drug** comprising **tocilizumab**, **flupentixol**, and **melitracen**. Tocilizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that acts as an interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor antagonist, primarily indicated for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions including rheumatoid arthritis. Flupentixol is a thioxanthene antipsychotic, primarily acting as a dopamine D1 and D2 receptor antagonist with antidepressant and anxiolytic properties at low doses. Melitracen is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) believed to block the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, resulting in increased synaptic concentrations of these neurotransmitters and an antidepressant effect. The combination of flupentixol and melitracen is primarily used for the treatment of depression, anxiety, and related psychosomatic disorders[1][2][3][6][7][8]. Recent clinical research has investigated the combined use of tocilizumab and flupentixol-melitracen (as a fixed-dose combination) for the treatment of thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy[4][5][10].
