Overview
A combination of topiramate, an anticonvulsant, and aripiprazole, an atypical antipsychotic. Topiramate works by blocking voltage-dependent sodium channels, potentiating GABAergic transmission, and inhibiting excitatory pathways through AMPA receptor sites. Aripiprazole acts as a partial agonist at dopamine D2 receptors and serotonin 5-HT1A receptors, while functioning as an antagonist at 5-HT2A receptors. This combination has been studied for borderline personality disorder, alcohol use disorder, and conditions where metabolic considerations are important.
