Overview

Toripalimab is a humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, developed by Shanghai Junshi Biosciences. In the specific clinical trial context at Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, it is being investigated as a neoadjuvant therapy in combination with histology-specific chemotherapy for the treatment of locally advanced (Stage III-IVA) thymic epithelial tumors. The chemotherapy component typically consists of cisplatin, doxorubicin (adriamycin), and cyclophosphamide (CAP regimen) for thymoma patients, or carboplatin and paclitaxel for thymic carcinoma patients. This combination approach aims to enhance anti-tumor immune responses by blocking PD-1/PD-L1 interactions while providing direct cytotoxic effects to downstage tumors prior to radical surgical resection.
