This treatment regimen is a multi-modality therapeutic approach investigated for the treatment of high-risk locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). It combines standard-of-care induction chemotherapy (IC) and concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) with the PD-1 immune checkpoint inhibitor toripalimab and the anti-angiogenic agent Endostar (recombinant human endostatin). Toripalimab is a monoclonal antibody that blocks the interaction between the PD-1 receptor on T cells and its ligands, thereby restoring anti-tumor immune responses. Endostar is a recombinant protein that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-induced angiogenesis, restricting the blood supply necessary for tumor growth and metastasis. The regimen aims to enhance the efficacy of standard cytotoxic and radiation therapies through synergistic immune activation and vascular normalization.
