Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This therapeutic regimen is a combination therapy being evaluated in a Phase II clinical trial at Henan Cancer Hospital for the treatment of short-term recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The regimen consists of **toripalimab**, a humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) receptor to block its interaction with PD-L1 and PD-L2, thereby restoring T-cell anti-tumor activity. This is combined with **lenvatinib**, an oral multikinase inhibitor that targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR1-3), fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFR1-4), platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRα), KIT, and RET to inhibit angiogenesis and tumor cell proliferation. The pharmacological components are administered in conjunction with **radiofrequency ablation (RFA)**, a local-regional device-based therapy that uses thermal energy to induce coagulative necrosis of tumor tissue, potentially releasing tumor-associated antigens that may synergize with the systemic immunotherapy.
