Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TP-04 is an investigational, sterile, topical ophthalmic gel formulation of lotilaner being developed by Tarsus Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of ocular rosacea and papulopustular rosacea. Lotilaner is a well-characterized antiparasitic agent that paralyzes and kills mites—particularly *Demodex* mites—by selectively inhibiting parasite-specific GABA-chloride channels. This mechanism targets the underlying parasitic cause believed to contribute to inflammatory conditions such as ocular rosacea and papulopustular rosacea. TP-04 represents a potential category-creating therapy in areas with high unmet need, as there are currently no FDA-approved therapies specifically for ocular rosacea.
