Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TPM-02 + insulin is a transdermal formulation of insulin utilizing Avecho Biotechnology's (formerly Phosphagenics) proprietary Targeted Penetration Matrix (TPM) technology. TPM is a patented mixture of two forms of phosphorylated Vitamin E (tocopheryl phosphate) that enhances the solubility and skin penetration of poorly absorbed molecules. By incorporating insulin into this matrix, the drug aims to provide a non-invasive, needle-free delivery method for patients with diabetes, potentially offering a more convenient alternative to subcutaneous injections. The mechanism involves the TPM molecules forming complexes with insulin, facilitating its transport across the stratum corneum into the systemic circulation. Once in the bloodstream, the insulin acts as an agonist at the insulin receptor to regulate glucose metabolism.
