Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TQB3823 + abiraterone acetate + prednisone acetate is a combination regimen currently under clinical investigation for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. TQB3823 is a novel, potent, and selective PARP inhibitor, reported to have antitumor activity in BRCA-deficient cancer models by inhibiting homologous recombination repair of DNA. Abiraterone acetate is a selective inhibitor of CYP17A1, an enzyme crucial for androgen biosynthesis, and is combined with prednisone, a synthetic corticosteroid, to reduce side effects from mineralocorticoid excess and adrenocortical insufficiency. The combination is being developed and tested by Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group, a subsidiary of Sino Biopharm, in open-label phase Ib/II clinical studies for safety and efficacy in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients[2][4][6]. The investigational combination builds on proven standard-of-care—abiraterone acetate plus prednisone, which is approved for metastatic prostate cancer—by adding a PARP inhibitor (TQB3823) for potential synergistic anti-tumor effects.
