Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoction is formulated based on the therapeutic principle of "nourishing the kidney and promoting blood circulation" (Bushen Huoxue). It is primarily developed and studied by Longhua Hospital, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, for the treatment of recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA). The decoction aims to improve pregnancy outcomes by addressing TCM-defined kidney deficiency and blood stasis, which are believed to contribute to pregnancy loss. In clinical trials, it has been compared against standard hormonal treatments like dydrogesterone (Duphaston) to evaluate its efficacy in maintaining pregnancy and improving live birth rates in women with a history of RSA.
