Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Botrostat is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product containing tranexamic acid and ethamsylate, developed and marketed by Juggat Pharma (a division of Jagdale Industries). It is primarily used as a hemostatic agent to manage and prevent excessive blood loss in conditions such as menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding), post-operative hemorrhage, and trauma. Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic agent that works by competitively inhibiting the activation of plasminogen to plasmin, thereby stabilizing fibrin clots and preventing their degradation. Ethamsylate is a hemostatic agent that enhances platelet adhesiveness and restores capillary wall resistance by promoting the expression of P-selectin and improving primary hemostasis, without interfering with the normal coagulation cascade. The combination is typically available in both oral tablet and injectable formulations.
