Overview

This is a combination of three components: tranilast (an antiallergic drug), fibrinogen (a coagulation factor), and thrombin (a serine protease). When fibrinogen and thrombin are combined, they form a fibrin sealant used to control bleeding during surgery when standard techniques are ineffective or impractical. Tranilast appears to inhibit the release of histamine from mast cells and has been shown to inhibit proliferation of fibroblasts. The combination may potentially enhance hemostatic effects while providing anti-inflammatory properties.
