Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Trans sodium crocetinate (TSC) + temozolomide is a combination therapy used primarily for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). TSC functions as an oxygen diffusion enhancer that improves oxygen delivery to hypoxic tissues, including cancerous tumors. By increasing oxygenation in tumor tissue, TSC potentially enhances the effectiveness of temozolomide and radiation therapy. Temozolomide is an alkylating agent that works by interfering with cancer cell DNA replication, preventing tumor growth. Clinical studies have shown that adding TSC to temozolomide and radiation therapy significantly improved survival rates and reduced tumor size compared to standard treatment alone.
