Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TransAct is a topical transdermal patch containing the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) flurbiprofen. Developed by Lead Chemical, it is indicated for the symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders, including osteoarthritis, acute strains, and sprains. The patch utilizes a specialized delivery system to provide sustained release of flurbiprofen directly to the affected area over a 12-hour period. This localized delivery mechanism aims to achieve effective therapeutic concentrations at the site of injury while minimizing systemic absorption, thereby reducing the incidence of systemic adverse effects such as gastrointestinal irritation typically associated with oral NSAID therapy.
