**Transferon** is a human leukocyte-derived dialyzable extract consisting of a reproducible, complex mixture of low-molecular-weight peptides generated from disrupted human leukocytes. In the registered liver-disease study led by Martin Janičko, a subcutaneous injectable human-derived transfer factor preparation was evaluated as an immunomodulatory adjunct intended to reduce the incidence or severity of infections during acute decompensation of advanced chronic liver disease and acute-on-chronic liver failure. Its molecular composition and pharmacologic mechanism are not fully defined, and no single validated therapeutic target has been established.
