Overview

Trastuzumab + anthracycline refers to a combination treatment regimen evaluated in the NCT01413828 clinical trial led by Peking Union Medical College Hospital. This regimen involves the concurrent administration of the HER2-targeted monoclonal antibody trastuzumab (Herceptin) with anthracycline-containing adjuvant chemotherapy (such as doxorubicin or epirubicin) for patients with HER2-positive early breast cancer. Historically, concurrent use of these agents was avoided due to concerns regarding synergistic cardiotoxicity; however, this trial demonstrated that concurrent administration is safe, maintains efficacy, and can significantly shorten the total duration of adjuvant therapy by 3 to 6 months compared to the standard sequential administration of these drugs.
