Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Travoprost + timolol is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic solution containing two active substances: travoprost, a prostaglandin F2α analogue, and timolol, a non-selective beta adrenergic receptor antagonist. Travoprost lowers intraocular pressure by increasing the outflow of aqueous humour via trabecular meshwork and uveoscleral pathways through full agonism at the prostaglandin FP receptor. Timolol reduces intraocular pressure by decreasing aqueous humour production in the eye through beta-blockade. The combination provides an additive effect for lowering intraocular pressure compared to either agent alone and is indicated for adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who are insufficiently responsive to topical beta-blockers or prostaglandin analogues[4][5][6][8].
