Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tretinoin + clindamycin is a topical fixed-dose combination small molecule gel containing clindamycin phosphate 1.2% and tretinoin 0.025% for the treatment of acne vulgaris in patients 12 years of age and older. It combines a lincosamide antibiotic with a retinoid to address complementary pathogenic drivers of acne: clindamycin suppresses bacterial protein synthesis in *Cutibacterium acnes* and contributes antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity, while tretinoin activates retinoic acid receptors to normalize follicular keratinization and provide comedolytic and anticomedogenic effects. The product is applied once daily and is marketed under brands including Veltin and Ziana, with use centered on comedonal and mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne.
