tretinoin + Zingiber officinale

tretinoin + Zingiber officinale is an investigational combination therapy developed by Hasanuddin University for the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris. The treatment regimen consists of a nightly application of tretinoin 0.025% cream followed by the application of a 5% Zingiber officinale (ginger) transdermal patch to specific pustules. Tretinoin is a small molecule retinoid that works by binding to retinoic acid receptors, normalizing epithelial desquamation, and reducing sebum production. Zingiber officinale extract provides complementary anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities, specifically targeting interleukin-1 (IL-1) and modulating the skin microbiome to reduce acne lesions. This combination is currently being evaluated in a randomized, split-face clinical trial to assess its efficacy and safety compared to tretinoin monotherapy.
