Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Triamcinolone acetonide + urea is a topical combination drug used primarily for the treatment of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses, such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and other skin conditions characterized by inflammation, itching, dryness, or scaling. Triamcinolone acetonide is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid that acts by activating glucocorticoid receptors to suppress the release of pro-inflammatory mediators in the skin[1][2][3][4]. Urea is a keratolytic agent that increases moisture content in the stratum corneum by softening and dissolving the intercellular matrix of dry or thickened skin. The combination leverages triamcinolone’s anti-inflammatory effects with urea’s hydrating and keratolytic properties to enhance penetration and efficacy in hyperkeratotic or very dry lesions.
