Triamterene + chlortalidone is an oral combination diuretic product marketed by Wyntra Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of hypertension and edema. It consists of triamterene, a potassium-sparing diuretic, and chlortalidone, a thiazide-like diuretic. Triamterene works by blocking the epithelial sodium channels (ENaC) in the distal tubule and collecting duct, which promotes sodium excretion while reducing potassium loss. Chlortalidone inhibits the sodium-chloride symporter in the distal convoluted tubule, leading to increased excretion of sodium, chloride, and water.
