This is a combination product used primarily in oral care, generally in the form of **toothpaste** or mouthrinse, composed of three active components: triclosan (a broad-spectrum antimicrobial), a fluoride compound (typically sodium fluoride or amine fluoride, which is effective in caries prevention and as an antibacterial agent), and amino acid (in oral care, commonly refers to amine fluoride or may refer to inclusion of amino acids for oral mucosal health)[1][2][4]. Triclosan inhibits bacterial fatty acid synthesis by binding to enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase, disrupting microbial membranes and growth. Fluorides enhance enamel remineralization, inhibit demineralization, and can exert antibacterial activity, especially in the case of amine and stannous fluoride. The amino acid component, when referenced in oral care, may denote amine fluorides, which are organic fluoride compounds where fluoride is bound to an amino acid-like group, increasing surface activity and enhancing fluoride's substantivity on oral and dental surfaces[2]. The mixture is used to reduce dental plaque, prevent gingivitis, and lower the risk of dental cavities[2][4].
