Trimebutine maleate acts as a non-competitive spasmolytic agent with mild opioid receptor affinity and significant anti-serotonin activity. Clostridium butyricum is an anaerobic gram-positive bacillus used as a probiotic to restore gut flora balance. It produces butyrate—a short-chain fatty acid essential for colon health—supports the integrity of the gut barrier, inhibits pathogenic bacteria growth through bacteriocin production, enhances nutrient absorption, and modulates immune responses[6][8]. The combination targets both functional dysregulation (via trimebutine) and microbiota imbalance (via C. butyricum), providing comprehensive management for gastrointestinal disorders such as IBS-D (diarrhea-predominant IBS)[1].
