Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Triptorelin microspheres (Joincare) is a sustained-release formulation of triptorelin acetate, a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist, developed by Joincare Pharmaceutical Group. Administered as an intramuscular injection every 28 days, the microsphere technology allows for the continuous release of triptorelin, which initially stimulates and subsequently desensitizes the GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland. This process leads to the suppression of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion, ultimately reducing serum testosterone to castration levels (<0.5 ng/mL). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic prostate cancer as a form of androgen deprivation therapy and is also being developed for the treatment of endometriosis.
