Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Trivalent COVID-19 Vaccine (Vero Cell), Inactivated, Prototype Strain, Delta Strain and Omicron Strain is an inactivated, alum-adjuvanted whole-virion SARS-CoV-2 vaccine developed by Sinovac Life Science to broaden protection against COVID-19 by incorporating antigens from the ancestral prototype strain and the Delta and Omicron variants.[12] The vaccine is produced by propagating each SARS-CoV-2 strain in Vero cells, chemically inactivating the viruses, purifying and formulating them with aluminum-based adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity, thereby inducing neutralizing antibodies and cellular immune responses against multiple variants of concern.[12] It is being evaluated primarily as a booster dose in individuals previously vaccinated against COVID-19, with clinical development focused on immunogenicity and safety outcomes rather than naïve primary series use.[12]
