Trivalent influenza vaccine (split virion), inactivated (MDCK cell) is a seasonal influenza vaccine produced using cell-culture technology rather than traditional embryonated chicken eggs. Developed by Lanzhou Bailing Biotechnology and Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products, the vaccine utilizes Madin-Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cells as a substrate for the propagation of influenza viruses. This method reduces the risk of egg-adaptive mutations that can compromise vaccine efficacy and makes the vaccine suitable for individuals with egg allergies. The trivalent formulation is designed to protect against three influenza strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and one influenza B lineage. It is currently in Phase I clinical development in China to evaluate its safety and immunogenicity in individuals aged 3 years and older.
