**Trospium chloride + metformin** is a combination of two pharmaceutical drugs: trospium chloride, an antimuscarinic agent used to treat overactive bladder, and metformin, an oral antihyperglycemic medication for type 2 diabetes. Trospium chloride works by antagonizing muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in the bladder, reducing involuntary contractions and increasing bladder capacity. Metformin acts mostly through suppression of hepatic glucose production and improvement of insulin sensitivity. Both drugs are eliminated renally. Combination therapy is considered mainly in patients with coexisting overactive bladder and diabetes. Pharmacokinetic studies show no significant change to metformin exposure, but metformin reduces trospium’s plasma exposure by around 29–34%, though this has not been shown to be clinically significant in healthy subjects.
