Overview

TXA14007 + azithromycin is a small molecule combination therapy under development by TAXIS Pharmaceuticals. The product combines TXA14007, a novel bacterial efflux pump inhibitor, with the macrolide antibiotic azithromycin. This combination is designed to address multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacterial infections, including those caused by *Escherichia coli*, *Klebsiella pneumoniae*, and *Acinetobacter baumannii*. By inhibiting the efflux pumps that bacteria use to expel toxic substances, TXA14007 prevents the extrusion of azithromycin from the bacterial cell, thereby restoring the antibiotic's efficacy and enhancing its antibacterial activity against resistant strains. The program is currently in the lead optimization stage of preclinical development.
