This investigational cell therapy consists of human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UCB-MSCs) developed by the Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital in China. It is specifically being evaluated for the treatment of severe, long-term cytopenia following CAR-T cell therapy, a condition categorized as immune effector cell-associated hematotoxicity (ICAHT). The therapy is manufactured by UCell Life Science Development Co., Ltd. and is administered intravenously. UCB-MSCs are hypothesized to promote hematopoietic recovery and mitigate inflammatory damage within the bone marrow microenvironment through their inherent immunomodulatory and tissue-regenerative properties. The clinical development is currently focused on patients with hematologic malignancies, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, who experience persistent blood count deficiencies after receiving CAR-T cell infusions.
