Umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell (UC-MSC) exosomes are extracellular vesicles harvested from the culture medium of mesenchymal stem cells derived from human umbilical cord tissue. These exosomes function as paracrine mediators, carrying a cargo of miRNAs, proteins, and growth factors that modulate cellular signaling. In the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA), UC-MSC exosomes are hypothesized to stimulate the proliferation of dermal papilla cells, promote the transition of hair follicles into the anagen growth phase, and reduce inflammation within the scalp microenvironment. Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University is conducting clinical research to evaluate the efficacy of these exosomes in increasing hair density and thickness in patients with advanced androgenetic alopecia.
