Overview

Umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (3D) is a cell therapy candidate developed by Yuanpin Biotech for the treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA). The product consists of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) isolated from human umbilical cord tissue that are expanded using a three-dimensional (3D) culture technology. This 3D approach is designed to better replicate the natural physiological microenvironment of the cells compared to traditional two-dimensional (2D) monolayer cultures, which may enhance the cells' proliferative capacity, viability, and therapeutic potency. MSCs are known for their immunomodulatory and regenerative properties, functioning through the secretion of various bioactive molecules such as anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors. In the treatment of KOA, these cells are intended to reduce joint inflammation and promote the repair of damaged articular cartilage, typically administered via intra-articular injection.
